75% Reduction in Radiation
As
we use the latest techniques in dentistry, we now use digital X-rays. They have a 75% reduction in radiation
over traditional film X-rays. Once the picture is taken with the
digital sensor, it is immediately displayed on our computer
screen. Your entire mouth can be viewed in just one picture. You
no longer have to wait for images to develop and there are no
polluting chemicals used in the process.
The Ultimate in Patient Education
We like our patients to be informed on all procedures, whether
it is a cleaning, restoration, cosmetic makeover, or periodontal
treatment. We know you will have questions and we want you to
have the complete answers you need. We use the CAESY patient
information program that gives comprehensive information on
every aspect of dental care. It covers a complete range of
topics for every family member from a child’s first visit to the
special attention a grandparent may need.
Your Jaw and Peak Athletic Performance
Proper
alignment of the jaw is very important in maximizing your power and
strength for athletic performance. We now offer our athletes Under
Armour ArmourBite™, a custom-fitted mouthguard to increase your
endurance, balance, strength, and overall power. Please ask us about
this tool that will make a difference in your training and
performance.
Many
Americans participate in sports that can result in injury to or loss
of teeth. This can be prevented with proper mouthguard protection.
Over-the-counter mouthguards do not fit well and can make breathing
difficult during exertion. Together with the American Dental
Association, we recommend being fitted for and wearing a custom
mouthguard for these sports:
Boxing, roller hockey, field
hockey, gymnastics, skiing, handball, lacrosse, martial arts,
surfing, racquetball, weight lifting, rugby, shotputting,
skateboarding, skydiving, soccer, basketball, squash, football,
volleyball, water polo, ice hockey, and wrestling.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
For
those with anxieties during dental visits, we use “laughing gas” or
nitrous oxide to make treatments easy. Through a mask, a patient
inhales the medication that gives an overall calm and relaxed state.
Additionally, a local anesthetic is administered and together, all
pain is eliminated in most cases.
No More Numbness After Treatment!
Your
comfort during every procedure is our concern. Often local
anesthetics leave a patient numb for several hours after treatment.
It can be difficult to eat or talk with the numb feeling in the face
and lips. To reverse this issue, we are pleased to have OraVerse™
for those who are uncomfortable with this prolonged numbness. It
returns the feeling in your face and mouth to normal in only fifteen
minutes!
State-of-the-Art Sterilization
We use the latest technology for sterilization of
instruments after each and every use. We do not take any risks when
it comes to your complete health care. We have a special sterilizing
unit called an autoclave. It is monitored for the necessary level of
cleanliness by an independent lab. We also have single-use tools as
they are needed.
Intra-Oral Camera Makes You a Part of the Dental Process
Dr.
Thomas believes in teamwork and will always work together with
patients in each dental decision. With the use of an intra-oral
camera, a close-up picture of your mouth lets you see what work
needs to be performed. This involves patients, allowing them to play
a role in what treatment will be given.
Defeat Gum Disease Painlessly
Many
patients seem to think that decay is the major cause of tooth loss.
The real reason is gum (periodontal) disease! Dr. Thomas uses
ATRIDOX™ to fight infected gums. It is an antibiotic powder with
tiny, invisible microspheres that are time-released to the area of
infection. It kills the bacteria and works effectively and
painlessly.
Problems with Bad Breath?
Bad breath can affect more than your social life – it
could mean more serious health problems that need to be diagnosed.
Chronic bad breath is often associated with gum disease. Dr. Thomas
addresses this problem with a fresh breath center to reverse these
issues so you may have fresh breath again!
How Does Xylitol Help to Reduce Cavities?
Xylitol
is a naturally occurring substance found in fruit and vegetables and
produced in our own bodies every day. With extensive medical
research, it has been found that it is effective in combating tooth
decay from foods high in starches and sugars. It is also now widely
known to be the best sweetener for teeth as it prevents, not
induces, decay. Many dental associations in European nations endorse
its use in sweetening products such as toothpaste, mouthwash,
chewing gum, tablets, and candy. It also helps to prevent allergies
and is available in a nasal spray. We encourage our patients to try
xylitol products for better dental and upper respiratory health.
Getting Your Teeth Their Cleanest
We
make sure we remove all deposits of tartar and plaque from every
tooth and under the gumline even deep pockets. We achieve this
with the piezo scaler, which is a hand tool with high-frequency
vibrations. It works fast and easy with little or no discomfort.
Your teeth will feel their cleanest with this instrument.
